Village Highlands is a 47 unit development in upper West Santa Cruz that was started in the early 90’s. The homes are mostly all 2 story. They have detached garages off the back of the house that area accessed off of a small alley. They were originally built, I believe in the early 90’s by Bustichi Construction, and due to a lumber shortage at the time, the first half dozen or so houses were built with steel stud construction. That method is usually done in commercial real estate development. While to cost is a bit higher, the benefit in a house is there is less for a termite to eat. I liked that. The floor plans are usually either a 3 bedroom or 4 bedroom model and they top out about 1850 square feet. They are within easy walking distance to UCSC.
