Beach Hill is a cool area across from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in the upper area. The lower area is called beach flats and houses many of the workers that support the major tourist attraction. The historic Victorian cottages on Beach Hill known as the Carmelita Cottages, is still in the process of restoration. These buildings are part of a Santa Cruz City park and are being completely restored through the fundraising efforts of the volunteers of the Santa Cruz Hostel
