Freedom School is situated in the community of Freedom, California between the Watsonville Airport and the northern city limits of Watsonville.

Freedom School serves approximately six hundred kindergarten through fifth grade students, including one Special Day Class. The school population is 89% Hispanic, 67% Limited English Proficient, and 53% Migrant, with 76% coming from families who live at or below the poverty level. The school's attendance area extends from the Freedom community west to the Monterey Bay, thus including a large agricultural region. A majority of the parents are employed in agriculture.
