I always enjoyed myself at the Santa Cruz Greek Food Festival. It is held across the street from the Santa Cruz Main public library at the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church of Santa Cruz at 223 Church Street. If you need to call for some reason their number is 831-429-6500.
The festival runs from May 15-17th and is a celebration of things Greek, but mostly is a celebration of their great food. You can have great Greek salads, which I love, Moussaka, Baklava and others. Bring your cash, a great attitude for fun and a good appetite!
The festival is a fun event and there is parking on the streets nearby or the parking garages nearby off of Cedar street. This location is just a few blocks off of the Pacific avenue. This is one of those events that is great to be able to walk to or ride you bike, which is even better. Leave the dog at home as there are bound to be problems.
As there generally weren’t any Greek food choices year round but Vasili’s on Mission I always looked forward to this event especially. There is a new one downtown called “The Greek” if you happen to miss this event and want a dose of the real stuff. It is located at 425 Front.
Do support this event and our downtown restaurants. They will all be appreciative and hope you have a great time. While you are walking around, admire some of our great Santa Cruz real estate. There are and have beeen some reasonably priced downtown properties in Santa cruz available. Such great architecture, such as the Greek Orthodox church that this event is being held at is all close by. If something catches your eye, give me a call at 831-818-7524 regarding what is for sale or what you may want. Enjoy yourself!
