Save water and money in Aptos and Capitola houses

Soquel Creek Water department is our local water provider for much of the central Santa Cruz County region. If you are a customer there are many programs that may apply to you to save you money and water, at a cost we all love,FREE.

As things have gone up in cost, so has the water bill. Santa Cruz County, like many other regions of California, is facing water shortages. Too much water is being diverted to farming and LA is thought to be part of the blame for the dramatic salmon fisheries demise. Pumping water has caused the aquifers to start drying up, which close to the coast, has led to saltwater intrusion. New housing construction has caused in many areas, a great demand on the water systems. In Santa Cruz county new housing has to offset their water usage through water saving measures in existing housing stock.

Soquel Creek Water has a good relationship with Santa Cruz Realtors. Awhile ago I had Roy Sikes come to my real estate office and speak to us on what they are doing to help homeowners and real estate owners reduce their water usage, and save money. By reducing use ( conservation) one can add households and hopefully stay within the aquifers ability to recharge itself. Here are some of the programs he mentioned and some things you can do.
