Your health and your air quality of life in Capitola

For many of us Santa Cruz County residents, we take our clean fresh moist sea air for granted. While for some moving to Santa Cruz county is a matter of health, it is not for all. There are so many natural activities to do here in order to stay healthy, just choose, and go do it. Obesity is having a deleterious affect on our nation’s health care system and on our body, so almost any activity is beneficial.

For some though getting out and exercising is predicated on the air being clean enough that we don’t go into spasms of coughing or having to blow our noses all the time, or even worse end up at the doctor or hospital.

If you want to check and see how the air quality is here or where ever you are going, this is one resource that may help. If respiratory issues are a major concern, you may want to plan trips around it. Just last month during the Trabing Fire in Watsonville, and the Martin Fire in Bonny Doon, I not only had ash on my car, but I had bad allergies from the smoke. I’d hate to be a firefighter, but do appreciate what they do. So planning a trip to avoid airborne health conditions may be a smart and easy thing to do with this air quality checker. For some in some inland areas, smog is their big health alert. Vacationers to Santa Cruz rarely have to worry about air quality, though anything is possible. Certain times of the year many people have allergies to tree and grass pollen blooms. Here things are particularly bad with acacia and oak and pines in my area.

You can check for different areas for concerns for allergies in Capitola or Aptos by entering you zip code. While that won’t get all of the things you may have as a consideration, it is one easy tool to check and see.

For others, the pollen index is something they consider for health. High pollen counts can affect the health of young and old. Precautions such as keeping your exertion level down and even using a respirator and filter cleaners in your house can help. While there are a lot of allergies that we can have from plants and insects to food, most are airborne for most of us.The summer allergy guide is useful to have as a link on your computer in case you or a loved one gets into a problem. If you have a pronounced problem, seeing a professional might be helpful. For some that is an acupuncturist, chiropractor or physician. The American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology has a list of physicians and articles that maybe helpful in improving your health.

Now get off the computer and go have fun. If you insist on staying on it and want to move to Santa Cruz and buy a home, the real estate prices are the best they have been in years. Santa Cruz real estate is a good lifestyle and healthy choice. Enjoy your day.
