Westside Santa Cruz Homes
This area was developed in varying stages, which means that you can find a diverse selection of Westside Santa Cruz homes to choose from. There are a number of lovely older homes that are quite spacious on King Street and Escalona Drive, and smaller character homes on the streets of Rigg and Peyton.
If you are looking for oceanfront homes in West Santa Cruz, be sure to check out the beautiful properties on West Cliff drive, many of which have been designed by Santa Cruz's fine local architects.
In the upper Westside of Santa Cruz, you will find tract housing. Some of these properties are part of older developments such as those on Spring Street or Westlake. They are often single-level and have large lots. More tract housing can be found close to the University of California Santa Cruz, and were designed to meet the needs of the university population. As the university grew, the need for higher density housing came, and the new development of Westmont Place was built.
The lower Westside of Santa Cruz also features a number of tract houses. While there are some that were built with little more than cost as a consideration, there are many others that are quite attractive. Most city lots are 5000 or 6000 square feet, though in the neighborhood known as "the circles," they are usually between 2000-4000 square feet. Homes located in "the circles" are small and often not built with beauty and character in mind, but there are newer remodels which are quite lovely, and have added to the appeal of this neighborhood.
Homes for sale in West Santa Cruz start in the mid 600's for small place to about $3 million. To find a home that is of decent size, expect to spend between $750,000-950,000. Larger homes that are not on the water will range from about 1 million to 1.5 million, while condos on the Westside are priced between $400,000 and $1 million.
