Santa Cruz Boardwalk Thrill Rides

These are the rides with the strictest height restrictions all but one ride require riders to be at least 48 inches tall, One ride has a minimum requirement of 50 inches and some rides allow shorter riders to ride when they are accompanied by a rider that is tall enough to ride on their own. 

Crazy Surf

A fun new ride at the park. enjoy what is described as "a super-swell of fun and excitement" on the park website. Riders need to be at least 42 inches tall. 


If you like to spin in circles this is the ride for you. Stand on the outside of a giant circle while it spins you three times faster than the force of gravity. Riders need to be 48 inches to ride alone and between 42 and 48 inches to ride with a chaperone.

Double Shot

This thrill straps riders into seats on the outside of a 125-foot tower and launches you up high above the coastline to see pretty much everything in the county and far into the ocean beyond Santa Cruz. Riders need to be 48 inches tall.


A boardwalk favorite of thrill seekers. Take a powerful swing up into the air and get spun around to a dizzy bit of fun. Riders must be 48 inches. 

Giant Dipper

One of the most popular and instantly recognized roller coasters on the boardwalk. it is one of the top wooden coasters in the country. This has the tallest minimum height requirement of 50 inches. 


This is a Ferris wheel with an increased thrilling twist. This Ferris wheel comes with cages that spin upside down as you go around the wheel. Riders must be 48 inches to ride on their own. Riders between 34 and 48 inches can ride with a chaperone.


Take a spin on the new wild wave-like ride that sends riders rocking and spinning. You need to be 48 inches to experience the fun.


This is a new ride in the park that features full-circle 360-degree thrills. The height requirement is 48 inches.


The ride description promises a storm of adrenaline, The ride soars six stories above the boardwalk and takes you upside down. You need to be 48 inches tall to ride.


This is the only spinning rollercoaster in Northern California, so you need to experience this one. It is a unique experience with crazy turns and sudden drops. Riders must be 48 inches but cannot be taller than 77 inches. 

Wipe Out

Have fun on this dark ride with crazy rave-style surf tunes.  Riders need to be 48 inches tall.

There is something special about the beach boardwalk. Some locals may avoid it to get out of the crowds and away from tourists, but it is a great place to enjoy Santa Cruz. if you want to get a feel for Santa Cruz you want to experience it at least once.
