Capitola's Depot Hill Neighborhood

The Depot Hill neighborhood came about because it was the area of the train depot in Capitola.The Depot Hill neighborhood evolved as many things did early on based, on transportation routes. The train depot on Depot still stands and was rebuilt into a lovely high end B&B in 1990. It is so named the Inn at Depot Hill. The area has some beautiful Victorians and other styles. Many of the most beautiful homes overlook the City of Capitola. While one may have concerns of owning real estate on a bluff, these grand old ladies appear to be safe. On the ocean side the homes on Grand avenue have slowly been accosted by the affects of the waves and time. Grand Avenue is a walking only street now, as it has been eroding and is unsafe for cars. The homes have fabulous Capitoa ocean views and are generally over $3M as of 2017. As we know the weather can be fickle, with strong storms exerting their beauty and fury in this county in devastating fashion. The area is a beautiful place to call home with a mix of old and new residences. I jokingly say the name costs you $50,000, then you have to buy the house. It has a certain cache like Los Gatos. There is another charming old establishment at its end, Monarch Cove and has been the location of many a family re-union and wedding. It used to be called the El Salto Resort. Easy walking to town from Depot Hill, though the stairs from the theater lot will give you a fine view and workout. Start your Depot Hill home search over $800,000 for a fixer upper as of 2017.
