Banana Belt Neighborhood- East Side Santa Cruz

The Banana Belt neighborhood is in the eastern area of Santa Cruz.The Banana belt is so named because of the milder temperatures for the east side of Santa Cruz. The Banana Belt neighborhood has a variety of interesting architecture and is warmer than the closer to ocean neighborhood of Seabright. The temperatures are probably 5-10 degrees warmer generally, especially during the summer when the influences of the cooler sea breeze doesn't get this far in. More of the Banana Belt, an East Santa Cruz neighborhood

The streets are generally wider and you will find a wide variety of homes here built in the 20's 30's and 40's. There are some really cool Craftsman bungalows and probably one of the largest collection of nice smaller architecturally interesting homes in Santa Cruz. You will find streets here such as Branciforte, Morrissey, Marnell, Parnell, San Juan, Stanford, Chilverton, and some others. This a great place to live and enjoy old architecture. Good freeway access and a nice quiet area. I generally consider this area to be bounded by Soquel, the freeway, Morrissey Avenue and Park.
