Santa Cruz Gardens homes initially I think had about 8 different models. Later there were other newer developments at the back side of Santa Cruz Gardens, off of Waugh Street, which are apparent from the housing design. The homes range from smaller 2 bedroom 2 bath single level homes around 1200 square feet to large 5 bedroom 3 bath homes up to about 2500 square feet. These homes were to help the growing demand for larger homes and bigger families.
Santa Cruz Gardens residents are governed by Santa Cruz County regulations. There is an elementary school named Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary.This area is one of those hard to find unless you are a local. The Santa Cruz Gardens neighborhood has a community swimming pool that you can join for a small fee. As this area is usually above the fog line it is nice to have a pool to cool off in or have your kids take swim lessons.
The Santa Cruz Gardens area is accessed solely from Thurber Lane, off of Soquel. It is a development with no through traffic. On the flat lower portion of Thurber lane is the Fire Department and a number of condominium developments. The freeway is only a few minutes away, so this is a great commute location, and Dominican and Sutter hospitals and shopping are close by too.
